Would you like to see some gorgeous silk? I’m a real sucker for silk, especially great quality silks from India. There is an Etsy shop, SilksByUmf, from the Netherlands, that has the most luscious textiles. Really, they make me drool. Take a look …
A pink and orange brocade, almost sunglass-worthy it’s so bright:
I could see this hand loomed silk stripe fabric on a bench:
This flower pattern is so fun! Maybe for a kids’ room?
Nubby raw silk – great texture:
Imagine this silk brocade on a chair:
And finally, a cheery blue and yellow. This one feels like it should be in a country kitchen to give just a bit of Indian or Moroccan flavor:
Many of these are priced by fat quarters so you could use a bit of these wild colors and patterns to liven up other fabrics. Sew a few different fabrics together in stripes or patchwork to make a pillow. Or cover a small lampshade. These would even be fun to make upscale silk stuffed animals for children old enough to not chew on them! Or a dress or parasol for that special American Girl doll. Use it to wrap small gifts – that’s a really special touch for textile lovers!
